cognitive behavior therapy

How it
ALL STARTED.
It wasn't until I was in graduate school that I learned that not everything I thought was true. It seems so obvious looking back, but at the time it completely changed how I viewed myself and my perspectives on others.
Connecting thoughts to emotions and behaviors, and realizing that I did not have to believe everything I thought was enlightening. It was also comforting when I was sad or doubting myself.
But the real reason I have remained so passionate about cognitive behavior therapy and devoted all of my professional energy to it is because it WORKS.
Over and over again, I see what the research tells us - CBT can change your life.
CUSTOMIZED for you
My favorite thing about CBT is that once you learn the principles, the possibilities are endless.
Life is complicated and CBT provides a practical, goal-oriented framework for making sense of it.
At its heart, CBT is flexible and collaborative.
In therapy, we will take everything CBT, and other evidence-based practices, have to offer and personalize them to work for you.

About CAITLYN

1 / Licensed Therapist
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist, but most of my training and experience has been with CBT for anxiety and OCD. After my undergraduate degree in psychology I completed a Mater's in Clinical Psychology at SJSU, where the philosophy of compassionate evidence based treatment has stuck with me to this day. I then collected 3000 hours of experience in community mental health, schools and private practice before passing two licensing exams in 2012.
2 / Certified Cognitive Therapist
I learned CBT in my grad program but after licensure I knew I wanted more expertise. I joined a group practice specializing in OCD, attended trainings at the Beck Institute in Philadelphia, and practiced my skills. In 2015 I became a Diplomate through the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies. The Academy awards CBT certification to individuals who demonstrate expertise in the practice of CBT through case summaries and review of real taped therapy sessions.
3 / OCD Specialist
One thing I did not learn in grad school was how to recognize and treat OCD. The International OCD Foundation's Behavior Therapy Training Institute is one of the most in-demand OCD training programs in the country. I attended the BTTI is 2015 and the advanced BTTI in 2018, combining intensive in-person training with consultation with OCD experts. Attending the IOCDF's conferences and online trainings keeps me current on the most up to date treatment strategies for OCD
4 / Specialized Pregnancy and Postpartum Support
After having my first child in 2013 I had a whole new understanding for how anxiety and OCD can impact parenthood. Through multiple trainings with Postpartum International and the Beck Institute, I have built my knowledge base to use tools from CBT, ERP, and ACT to manage this tricky time.
5 / Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors
Wanting to improve my skills helping clients who want to stop pulling their hair or picking their skin, I attended the Trichotillomania Learning Center's behavioral therapy training program in 2017. This intensive training included in person instruction and ongoing consultation from experts in the field.

How I WORK
-
1 / How do I make an appointment?Complete the Potential Client Form and I will be in touch with you within 24 hours to set up a consultation call. If we are a fit, we will will book an intake session from there. After our initial meeting, most clients meet with me weekly for 45-minute sessions, ideally at the same day and a time each week. We will meet more or less depending on your needs. If you need to change your appointment time or cancel, I require 48 hours notice to avoid a full session charge.
-
2 / How much does therapy cost and do you take insurance? My fees are $340 per 60 minute initial assessment session and $255 per 45-minute therapy session. I am an out-of-network provider for all insurance panels. If you have a PPO you may be eligible for out of network benefits and I will submit electronic claims on your behalf so that you may be partially reimbursed for your CBT sessions. You can contact your insurance company directly to find out more information about your out of network coverage.
-
3 / Do you offer in-person/face -to-face sessions?YES! It has been so good to be back in the office! I offer both in person and online therapy. My in person office is in Campbell, CA, serving the Silicon Valley region. I can provide online therapy to residents throughout California.
-
4 / Do you work with children and teens? Most of my therapy clients are adults, young adults and older teenagers. I don’t often work with children under age 11 but if you feel your child could be a good fit for me I am happy to speak with you. I also offer Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) treatment for parents seeking to help their children with anxiety disorders and OCD.
-
5 / What will our sessions be like?CBT is more structured than other types of therapy. We will start by setting an agenda and intention for the session. Then the majority of our session time will be spent on discussing your problems and applying CBT interventions. We will end with an action plan for you to take into your week. CBT, is at its core, flexible and collaborative so we will tailor our sessions to your needs.
-
6 / How long does therapy take?It truth is that treatment length varies a lot! The severity of your symptoms and how long you've had them , your motivation to work outside of session, and your life circumstances will all factor in to treatment length. Most clients start to feel some noticeable relief within three months and may achieve their goals by six months. For others it can take a year or more.

7 / What is a Good Faith Estimate? You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
